Scripture:

"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

– Isaiah 41:10 (NIV)

Reflection

Let’s talk about fear—not as a big, scary concept, but as something we all deal with in our own way. For me, fear has often felt like an uninvited companion. I’ve been described as timid more than once, and honestly, it used to sting. I’d be afraid of failing, afraid of succeeding (yes, that’s a thing!), afraid of what people might say, or of not meeting expectations. It was overwhelming, even crippling at times.

But here’s what I’ve learned: fear might feel familiar, but it doesn’t have to stay.

Fear shows up when we feel out of control, uncertain, or unsafe. It might stop us from stepping into something new, being ourselves, or doing what God has called us to do.

In my own life, I’ve seen how it kept me stuck, second-guessing every step. But when you lean into your identity in God, things begin to shift.

Paul’s words in 2 Timothy 1:7 hit home for me:

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind."

It’s no coincidence that Paul shared this truth while encouraging Timothy to be bold in his faith and unashamed of suffering for the gospel. Fear can stop us from living out God’s plans. It keeps us quiet when we should speak up and makes us hesitant when we’re called to act. But here’s the good news: God’s Spirit empowers us with courage, love, and clarity.

The part that resonates most with me is love. Perfect love casts out all fear (1 John 4:18), and when I remember that God loves me completely and unconditionally, I can trust Him with the outcomes. So, when you feel uncertain, you hold onto this: God’s love for you means He’s working everything together for your good!

  • Think of one area where you feel hesitant or unsure. Ask yourself, “What would I do differently if I knew for sure that God was with me?”

  • Write down one step you can take today towards something you've wanted to do, to move forward with confidence and trust in God’s love and strength to carry you.

Dear Lord, thank You for reminding me that I don’t have to live in fear; that you are with me and I can rest in Your perfect love and to no matter what. Help me to live daily in this truth. Fill me with the courage, love, and sound mind that Your Spirit brings so I can step out boldly for You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
