Day 1: Rediscovering Your Worth in God

Scripture:
"You will be a crown of splendour in the Lord’s hand, a royal diadem in the hand of your God."
– Isaiah 62:3 (NIV)
Let’s be honest—how often do we let other people or things decide how valuable we are?
From test scores and job titles to social media likes and relationships, we tie our value to things that are temporary. But what happens when those measures fail? A breakup, a failed project, or an unmet goal can leave us feeling like we’ve lost our worth.
For as long as I can recall, I tied my value to external validation—what people said about me, how they treated me, and how "perfect" my life appeared. Last year, I fell into this cycle again while as I tried to pivot into a tech career. My goal wasn’t just to improve my life; I wanted to prove I was "doing something admirable." On the surface, I was making progress, but internally, I was chasing admiration instead of purpose.
Here’s the truth I had to face: my worth has never come from what I do or how others perceive me. It comes from God alone.
Isaiah 54:10 reminds us:
"Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the Lord, who has compassion on you.
So, even when life feels messy—when you haven’t "made it," or you start to feel like you don’t measure up— remind yourself that God’s love and value for you will remain constant. Like a crumpled money note that still holds its value, your worth doesn’t diminish because of failures or comparisons. You are a crown of splendour in God’s hand, not because of what you do, but because of who you are in Him.
Take a moment today to reflect. Grab a notebook and ask yourself:
Where have I been looking for validation or approval?
How have I allowed external things to define my worth?
Then, read Isaiah 62:3 aloud and let it remind you that you are precious, valued, and held by God.
Father, I thank You for loving me unconditionally and for reminding me that my worth is found in You, not in my achievements or other people’s opinions. Help me to release myself from the pressure to prove myself and help me to silence the lies of performance and comparison. Let me rest in the truth of Your unshaken love and live confidently as the crown of splendor You’ve created me to be. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
